Final Fantasy XIV Opens New North American Data Center and Four New Servers With Patch 6.28

Final Fantasy XIV’s latest patch, 6.28, is live and it opens a new Crystalline Conflict season, makes some balance changes, and opens a new North American Data Center and four new servers.

The long-awaited, and previously delayed, expansion of the North American Data Center has begun. This is the first part of the promised expansion, with a second part to happen at a later date. This means that there are four new servers available in this new North American Data Center, called Dynamis, and its four new servers are open.

What this also means is that bonuses for starting characters on these new worlds, or transferring over from congested servers to these new ones, will be in effect. The bonuses for creating characters on these new servers will include Double XP until reaching level 80, 1 million gil, and other bonuses, including 15 days of free play time.

For those transferring their characters over, the bonuses will vary slightly, and if those characters transferring are homeowners, there will be compensation available. Of course, giving up a home in this game is a pretty significant decision, seeing as all sales are now by lottery. The opening of a new server means that a new Lottery will be held eventually.

Other changes in the update include opening Crystalline Conflict Season 4 with new adjusted rankings, some PVP balance changes, making dozens of items now dyeable, and a number of bug fixes.

Square Enix is also warning Final Fantasy XIV players away from updating their Mac OS version to Ventura. Ventura was released last week on October 24th and Square Enix will support it with the Mac version. They are still testing and verifying compatibility so they are warning players that they should be patient and wait until support officially begins before they update their Mac OS.
