While they revolted against military oppression in quarantine zones across the United States, they also searched for a vaccine for the Cordyceps brain infection that plagues humans in the world of the game. The group uses a well-known symbol to mark their territory, which one fan has carved onto a pumpkin.
A Redditor named AddaboyShankle shared images of a pumpkin that they carved featuring the symbol for the Fireflies from The Last of Us. AddaboyShankle posted pictures of the gourd with a candle inside, illuminating the emblem in a beautiful array of yellow, orange, and white. According to the user, this is the first time that they have done a pumpkin carving in 15 years. It was never a tradition for them until they got together with their girlfriend and now they are happy to start one.

Another gamer carved a geeky pumpkin as well, though theirs is based on another popular video game franchise. A Reddit user known as nachoslanderer posted a picture of a pumpkin they carved with an image of the Pokemon Chandelure. In the post, the fruit glows a beautiful red and orange, fitting the fact that a Fire-Type creature has been etched into it. All around the Chandelure is a vine pattern that covers most of the gourd, filling in the blank space seen around the pocket monster. According to nachoslanderer, they utilized a precision craft knife and blackhead scraping tool in order to get the design on the pumpkin. AddaboyShankle and nachoslanderer did good jobs of celebrating Halloween with their pumpkins while also representing a few video game fandoms that many have come to love.
