Visionary Realms is laying out the present and future for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, as well as giving us a peek at November, and updating the roadmap to alpha in its latest newsletter round.

This month, the team held a pre-alpha test with over 500  concurrent players in a single zone.  having that results will help the team use the data in order to improve the build and plan future tests. Because the October test had been in the works for a while, and it seems to go pretty smoothly, the team feels more confident in planning more testing. As stated in the month’s Producer’s Letter:

“The relative performance and stability of our October session has given us the assurances needed that we can begin to conduct more frequent testing with less overhead. We hope to run the first of these ad-hoc sessions in November with an emphasis on combat balance and pacing.”

There’s also a section this month with testing stories from players, including from those who found something in the classic feel and others that found that old school helpful community spirit in this new world.

In November, in addition to that next test, the developer livestream will focus on the annual year-end review community Q&A on November 10th, in addition to more design updates in a live stream on the 17th.

With progress on testing cadence and development, the Pantheon team reports that they’ve hit a couple of milestones. The first is the completion of the revised Dark Myr models. Another is the beginning of swimming and an enhanced aggro system being implemented. There are another changes, including with terrain, biome generation, and more technical ones, like better asset packaging and management by the client. With a mix of stuff you can see and back end updates, along with a readiness to hold more alpha tests, progress continues.
