V Rising has just gotten a new update ahead of Halloween that adds the new Bloodfeast event and the Mad Hunt free for all. Also included is a new free Halloween-themed DLC pack and a free to play Steam weekend just in time for the holiday.

“The Bloodfeast is the time of year Vampires most freely engage in their savagery,” according to the latest V Rising devblog. A vampire-themed game with much opportunity to play your way is a natural match for some Halloween goodies.

To start, there’s a free Haunted Nights Castle DLC pack, which has a number of Halloween customization options for your castle. These include wall decor, gourd lanterns, floating gourds, skull candles, wailing, grinning, and laughing pumpkins, and more stuff to turn your castle into the Halloween destination for all those celebrating. You can claim the pack through November 7th.

The team has also added two new game preset options - Mad Hunt (PvE) and Mad Hunt (PvP). This new option enables certain server settings that shake things up a bit through randomization. With these settings you can shuffle the V Blood locations, make their portraits and lore hidden until defeat, and even alter the faction of the locations. Another setting lets you shuffle the blood ability rewards to also be random, and a third shuffles the tech rewards of V Blood.

There are difficulty levels in place and all tech you need to progress is still unlocked in the same order and at the same levels, but these new setting options for servers can inject a little freshness.

There will be a Steam free to play weekend coming from October 28th-November 1st, as the Stunlock Studios team looks to give everyone some treats in the form of an adventure in Vardoran.
