No Man's Sky Officially Launches on Switch, Brings Even More Free Content With Waypoint Update

No Man's Sky has finally come to the Nintendo Switch, and with it Hello Games has launched an update to remember. The Waypoint update brings some huge changes to No Man's Sky as the Switch port undocks and takes on the universe.

Hello Games has continued its insanely excellent post-launch support for No Man's Sky, the ambitious space exploration game that sees players take to the stars in a universe of literally trillions of planets to explore. Finally launching the Nintendo Switch, NMS' Waypoint update brings some massive overhauls to the multiplayer explorer, including some changes to the fundamental gameplay.

In the lengthy, lengthy patch notes, Hellow Games details the ways Waypoint changes No Man's Sky. New gameplay modes, such as the Relaxed Mode which prioritizes exploration instead of the survival elements in the game, giving a chill...well...relaxed experience.

There are visual updates as well with Waypoint today, with inventory seeing some love, as well as new atmospherics when you're at a Space Anomaly. Planetary visual effects have also been updated, with alien structures and beacons seeing new effects when activated.

On the PlayStation Blog this morning, Hello Games founder Sean Murray talked about the update, calling the "biggest generational leap so far" from No Man's Sky's 3.0 version to the now current 4.0.

Big changes include inventory overhauls, increasing the capacity players and their ships can hold. Players can also now individually customize the crafting, survival, combat and more to suit their specific playstyle. Also, finally, No Man's Sky features a seamless auto-saving feature, making it easier to pick up and go.

Finally, the big news for Nintendo fans is that No Man's Sky is finally available on the Nintendo Switch, bringing the hulking space multiplayer game to players on that platform. The Switch version will see new rewards from the Space Anomaly, including the new Horizon Vector NX ship, as well as a handy Multi-Tool.

You can check out the full patch notes on the No Man's Sky website.
