Balance Druid Basics In Wrath Classic

Are you ready to bring the boom in Classic Wrath of the Lich King? Go ahead, sing some Saliva. You've earned it.

Balance Druids have a solid rating on our WotLK PvE DPS Tier List. While the Boom Chicken won't quite live up to its pre-patch hype and potential, they're still a solid, enjoyable, and completely viable ranged DPS option to bring to raids. Rev up those Starfalls, boys, because we sure our hungry to raid in Northrend.

This guide will focus specifically on level 80 content and abilities. It will be updated throughout the Wrath of the Lich King expansion as more content rolls out.

Important New and Reworked Talents and Abilities

• Starfall - The capstone talent for the Balance tree does an absolutely insane amount of AOE damage.
• Hurricane - While you wait for the cooldown on Starfall for AOE, Hurricane is there for you because its cooldown has been removed. AOE rotation goes "brrrrr."
• Eclipse - The most important ability for Boomkin Druids in Classic Wrath. We'll explain more about this in the rotation section.
• Master Shapeshifter - A new talent that buffs the Druid form you're in. It combos well with Improved Moonkin Form, which increases your damage and haste.
• Rebirth - Now a 10-minute cooldown.
• Revive - You can now resurrect out of combat. This is not a drill, people.

The talent and glyph build for Boomkin is incredibly straightforward.

Balance Druid Skill Rotation and Cooldowns

Thanks to the addition of Eclipse, the rotation for Boomkin is far more complex and engaging. The key thing to remember is that your Starfire crits have a chance to buff your Wrath damage, and your Wrath crits have a chance to buff your Starfire damage. It's important to take advantage during the appropriate Eclipse procs, as indicated by the rotation below.

Balance Druid Wrath Rotation

• Ensure that Faerie Fire is always on the target.
• Cast Starfall on cooldown.
• Cast Force of Nature on cooldown.
• Ensure that Moonfire is always on the target. If you're in a Solar Eclipse, you don't need to refresh.
• Ensure that Insect Swarm is always on the target. If you're in a Lunar Eclipse, you don't need to refresh.
• Constantly cast Wrath during Solar Eclipse and until Lunar Eclipse procs.
• Constantly cast Starfire during Lunar Eclipse and until Solar Eclipse procs.

Balance Druid Wrath Cooldowns

• It's been brought up quite a bit, but Starfall is your biggest cooldown. Know it, learn it, love it.
• Force of Nature is still a solid DPS cooldown. Just make sure you use them when you can get the full duration of the Treants.
• You'll still have Innervate to give people mana. This has been reworked to no longer be based off of the target's spirit. Instead, the targeted player will regen 225% of your base mana. This opens up more people to see the full effect of Innervate.
• Of course, Rebirth is still a key raid cooldown.

The most important stats for Balance Druids in Wrath of the Lich King Classic are as follows:

2. Spell Power
3. Critical Strike
4. Haste
5. Spirit
6. Intellect

Balance Druid Consumables

There aren't many consumables you'll need for raiding:

• Flask of the Frost Wyrm
• Fish Feast or Firecracker Salmon
• Potion of Wild Magic
• Don't forget to pre-pot before the pull as you can only use a potion once during combat.

Best Wrath Professions for Balance Druids

• Jewelcrafting is generally accepted as one of the best professions for Balance Druids in Classic Wrath. You're able to obtain important cuts to help maximize the amount of stats you're able to get from gems.
• Engineering offers an impressive amount of utility and gear enchants, particularly Hyperspeed Accelerators, making it a very attractive second option.
• There is some benefit to gain from Enchanting, Alchemy, Inscription, and Tailoring. They also have the added bonus of being solid money-making options. To be honest, if you truly want to min-max, the JC/Engineering combo is the best bet for you.
