Niantic has fully revealed the details as to what awaits Pokemon GO players in the next season of the mobile hit, called Season of Light. And like every new Pokemon GO season, players can expect some unfamiliar Pokemon in their area, debuts of new Pokemon, Raids, events, and more.

Season of Light Start Time

Pokemon GO's Season of Light started on September 1, 2022. The season will end on December 1, 2022, at 10 am.

Updated on November 9, 2022: This Pokemon GO Season of Light guide has been updated with information on the ongoing Greedy Gluttons event, which is the debut of the Junkivore Pokemon, Guzzlord, who will appear in 5-star Raids. The Halloween event has come to an end, so our dedicated section for it has now been removed.

Cosmog

The season will introduce the Legendary Nebula Pokemon, Cosmog. This Pokemon was first unveiled in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, and it's able to evolve into both boxart Legendaries for Sun and Moon, Solgaleo and Lunala.

As part of a new update to the Cosmog quest, Pokemon GO players can now evolve their Cosmog into Cosmoem.

During the season, players will be able to somehow bond with Cosmog to learn more about it. There will also be Special Research that seems tied to Cosmog, so players should make sure to check their Research tab as the season progresses.

There are also some cosmetic items coming to the Pokemon GO shop that are inspired by the Nebula Pokemon. Themed Stickers are up for grabs, too.
