There’s nothing like a surprise Scourge Invasion. Maybe a planned one? After previously sharing a rundown of dates for updates and events that will lead into Wrath of the Lich King Classic on September 26th, the Scourge Invasion has begun earlier than expected.
After some community members noticed that the Scourge Invasion was happening off schedule for what had been previously announced for after the Zombie Plague, World of Warcraft community manager Kaivax confirmed the accidental early release.
“We previously believed that the Scourge Invasion would start 168 hours after the Zombie Plague. That’s why we used the dates we used in our posts about these events. Nonetheless, a trigger for this next set of conditions fired off at 72 hours, which was earlier today for all realms in this region.”
This means that on the Classic servers, except for Eranikus, which was just opened days ago, are now in the middle of it all. As a result of the early trigger for the Scourge Invasion, and the already in place consideration and intentional delay of the Zombie Plague for those who are just getting started on Eranikus, things will get fast tracked there. In fact, Eranikus will skip the Zombie Plague entirely and move right to the Scourge Invasion sometime soon, possibly tonight.
With the unintended early start there comes a silver lining, because all of the Scourge Invasion will last only until the servers all officially open for Wrath Classic and Northrend is open.
So if you’ve been waiting for what you expected would be another few days for the whole Scourge Invasion to arrive, you’ve got this weekend to get in there and take on these pre-expansion events, and a little more time to go through them again before the expansion is live.
