The release date of Fortnite Season 5 of Chapter 3 appears to have leaked online. Fortnite players are currently playing through Season 3 of Chapter 3, a particularly lengthy season compared to past seasons. With Season 3's end approaching, few Fortnite players are likely thinking about Season 5. Yet Epic Games is always looking ahead, and Fortnite leakers are always paying attention. The leak comes from industry insider Tom Henderson, well known for sharing leaked details about a number of different games. Most recently, Tom Henderson leaked that a Teen Titans skin for the character of Starfire would be released for the game, which later proved accurate. He's also leaked information recently about Call of Duty, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed plans, and many other titles. Suffice to say, he's a known reliable source.RELATED: Fortnite Datamine Hints at Lady Gaga ConcertHenderson is now sharing the official release date for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5. The season after next will begin on December 5, later this year, if Henderson is to be believed. Henderson does not provide a source for the leak, unfortunately. Even without a source, Henderson's information is historically reliable to a point of being trustworthy. There's little reason to doubt the December 5 date, but there's also no way to verify that information. Epic likely won't officially discuss it until well after Fortnite Season 4 is underway.

Regarding Season 4, the listed end of Season 3 is September 17. That date is found within Fortnite in reference to the battle royale's Battle Pass. However, the actual end date is likely to come later. A hidden end date is listed for October 2, and past hidden end dates are typically not accurate either. There's perhaps a full month left before Season 3 will be ending and Season 4 starts.

A season of Fortnite typically lasts around 90s days, though most seasons are typically shorter or longer than that. If Season 3 ends in October as expected, it's going to be around 120 days long. If Season 4's end date is around December 4, that would make it around 60 days long. That would make it the shortest season since Season 3 of Chapter 1, if true.

One of Fortnite's longest seasons followed by one of Fortnite's shortest seasons would be surprising, but makes a lot of sense. Epic is perhaps using Season 3 to catch up on things, or even give its development team a break, and then will begin moving Fortnite's story forward aggressively again later this year. Needless to say, Fortnite players have a lot to look forward to through the rest of 2022.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
