The next season of Fortnite – Chapter 3 Season 4 – is almost upon us. It’s entitled Paradise, and will see the battle royale favourite taken over by the mysterious substance known as Chrome.

The new website went live last weekend for the new season. The site also confirmed previous rumours, with the update set to go live early on Sunday morning.

As we await what’s next for the Battle Royale spectacular, we’ve put together all the information we have – and some educated guesses – about what to expect in Chapter 3 Season 4.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 release date, predicted start time

Epic Games has now officially confirmed that Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 Paradise will go live on Sunday September 18, 2022.

In a new blog post, detailing what players should finish before the end of Chapter 3 Season 3, Epic also revealed that downtime will start at around 2am ET – that’s 7am UK time.

There’s no word how long the game will be down for, alas. Previous seasons have seen Fortnite go down for at least a couple of hours as the new season goes live. Based on that then, we think the new season will go live around 9am UK time/10am CEST or 4am ET/1am PDT.

However, it’s worth noting that Seasons are larger updates, and so downtime could be longer depending on technical issues and potential setbacks especially as players rush to log on. Therefore, it may be wise to give it a couple of extra hours before logging in.

While you’re waiting though – there’s the trailers for both the season itself and the battle pass to watch. They’ll go live in the videos below at 2am ET/7am UK time.

Along with the website, Epic’s also dropped three live-action teases for the new season. They’re taking the form of commercials, with one for cereal, one make up tutorial and one gardening product.

However, these products quickly get overtaken by a mysterious, liquid-metal-like substance that hardens them. It looks like this’ll be a major part of the next season.

In fact, ShiinaBR on Twitter posted a couple of teaser texts that have been sent to fans saying “Chrome will consume all, Chrome will be all.” – so it’s probably safe to say that’s the metal substance in the trailers.

As to what it is and how it’ll effect the game itself? Surely we don’t have long to find out.

We also know that the season will run through October. That means it’ll definitely incorporate the now annual tradition of the battle royale’s Fortnitemares event.

In fact, Epic has already called for those making custom maps in Creative Mode to submit their creations to be featured in Discover mode. So we can definitely expect some appropriately spooky-themed hi-jinx as part of the season.

Turning to the reliable Fortnite leakers, back in June InTheShade claimed a new skating feature was being worked on. This, combined with skate parks being added the map over the last few months, could hint at a potential skater theme coming to the battle royale.

We won’t, sadly, likely be getting a crossover with PlayStation hit The Last of Us. It was heavily rumoured Joel and Ellie could be the next gaming stars to make a guest appearance. However, Neil Druckmann put the kibosh on those whispers last month.

We’ll let you know when official word on when Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 drops from the horses’ mouth.
