Cult of the Lamb is an adorable twist on the horror roguelike. When our woolly little friend grows tired of Crusading in the wild, they can relax in the cult headquarters with a bonfire, a tithing ritual, a glorious feast, or maybe a good old-fashioned sacrifice. Before the Lamb can enjoy any of this, however, they have to take on a few building projects, and that requires collecting the required materials.

Some of these building materials can be collected in dungeons, either as drops from slain enemies, gifts from NPCs, or as rewards in certain rooms. Certain special resources unlock certain locations or NPCs once the Lamb finds them, while others have to be refined and Consecrated. Here's a guide to building materials in Cult of the Lamb.

Several of the items that are required to complete buildings are less conventional crafting materials, like flowers or spider webs, and these items can only be found in certain places. The Lamb won't come across certain materials until they have enough followers to open the higher Crusade levels.

Building Materials

There's a wide variety of buildings that the Lamb can use to make their compound more alluring, and an equally impressive list of materials they need to collect to do it. Some materials are more durable and valuable than others, but they're more expensive, take more time to produce, and often need more complex buildings for the refining and Consecration process.

The building materials that come from plants, aside from the lumber from trees, can be grown in the garden next to the vegetables provided the Lamb has acquired the seeds. They drop in the Crusade rooms, but they can also be purchased from various shops and vendors.

Plants

  • Grass is one of the first resources the Lamb will come across. It drops almost everywhere, and the player will pick up a lot of it just by clearing brush. It's not only handy for early recipes, but also used in farm plots and several kinds of decorations.
  • Camellia: This simple red flower is more important than it looks. The Lamb will first come across them in Darkwood and hopefully, pick up a few seeds from the plants they cut down. They are not only used in the construction of a Healing Bay, but it also costs a few flowers every time it's used to treat someone.
  • Menticide Mushroom: The Lamb will start finding mushrooms in the dark, rotting forest of Anura. These mushrooms are used for certain decorations and a far-out brainwashing ritual, along with being a valuable commodity for certain NPCs.

Metal And Stone

  • Lumber is a simple resource that players find early in their Crusade, and is used for almost everything. It can be Consecrated into Wooden Planks, which are used for more complex buildings at later stages.
  • Stone: Another basic building block of cult life, the Consecrated version of this material is Stone Blocks. They are equally important as Lumber and Wooden Planks for building upgrades.
  • Gold Nuggets: Gold Coins and Gold Bars are produced from Gold Nuggets using the Refinery. Gold Bars are important for structures, including some required for quests or just to impress and intimidate followers.
  • Crystal Shards: Found in the murky corridors of Anchordeep, Crystal Shards are mostly decorative but are also required for some essential structures. The denizens of the Lighthouse at Pilgrim's Passage require them eventually for a quest.

Organics

  • Poop is easy to find around the compound, which is one of the advantages of one of humanity's oldest building materials. Recalling a time when homes were made of sod and held together by dung, Poop is needed to make living structures for Cultists, even the nicer ones. Unlike other materials, Poop isn't something players will find while Crusading.
  • Bones: Although primarily used for Temple Rituals, with almost everyone requiring a Bone offering of some kind, this material is also used extensively in decorations and buildings. This resource starts to drop at the very beginning, and it's one that players should pick up when they can.
  • Spider Silk will start to appear after the Lamb has advanced enough in his Crusade to visit Silk Cradle. It's primarily used in decorations as opposed to essential buildings, but it can only be picked up while on a Crusade, so it's worth collecting some to store for later use.
