World of Warcraft Gets a New Trade Chat Channel For Services, Which Reverses Full Ban on Boosting Services

World of Warcraft  is getting a new chat channel that should help clarify some decisions around players offering services, and make things clearer, especially ahead of Dragonflight’s additional trade and crafting orders systems.

When it comes to services, these might be for raids, dungeons, or PVP, and it follows up on Blizzard's previous decision to ban all boosting or carrying services, regardless of how they were paid for, and offer a way to separate all of this from the general Trade chat.

This week the 9.2.7 update introduces the new chat channel: Trade (Services). The Trade (Services) chat channel is used for searching and advertising services like raiding, dungeons, or PvP activities, keeping the original Trade chat channel available for traditional buying and selling of items and profession services.

With the separation of trade services into its own chat channel, a new policy will take place. Any boosting, carrying, or other similar services offered for gold that’s advertised outside of the Trade (Services) chat channel will be considered spam and the proper actions will be taken, so be sure to switch your service advertisements to the new chat channel when it becomes available after this week’s regional maintenance.

Blizzard banned boosting and carrying services, including those that were paid in in-game gold, in January after community feedback and discussion by the devs and the WoW Community Council. However, this new policy and channel in the update this week is a bit of a compromise. Notable in the post about the new trade chat is that boosting and carrying services offered for gold are still listed as being permissible in the new Trade (Services) chat.

Of course, RMT is still banned, but this move should both remove some leftover ambiguity and prepare things for the likely increase in trade-related discussions after Dragonflight changes things with the new crafting orders. Of course, not everyone will add Dragonflight, or add it right away, but this should reduce clutter.
