Telltale's The Walking Dead is an indie game series that burst onto the scene during the zombie and Walking Dead craze. It introduced the gaming industry to characters like Lee Everett and Clementine that would win the hearts of those who managed to experience their story for themselves.

Though the developer Telltale Games experienced plenty of issues on the business and development front, Telltale's The Walking Dead series saw four seasons, each introducing new characters and scenarios that added to Clementine's journey.

9 Luke

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters Luke

As Clementine comes to learn about William Carver and Howe's Hardware, it becomes clear why Luke and the rest of the escaped individuals at the cabin are so protective. Luke is a fully realized character that both expresses kindness and understanding, but will also eliminate anyone or anything he feels is a threat to those he feels he must protect.

In many ways, he was written to come across as a younger more naive version of the man Lee Everett was. That's partially why Clementine immediately feels a bit of a connection to this man she's never met before.

8 The St. Johns

When someone reveals themselves for who they truly are, that can either be heartwarming or terrifying based on what that revelation entails. During the game's first season players end up finding and staying at St. John's Dairy Farm. The St. Johns are a bit protective at first, but eventually, welcome Lee Everett's group in.

As time goes by there seemed to be something odd about the family. Well, it turns out that they're cannibals and felt that it was the best way to survive in a zombie-infested world. The St. Johns weren't extremely dangerous, but what they were willing to do to survive made them a memorable threat nonetheless.

7 Omid & Christa

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters Omid Christa

Omid and Christa are a couple who originally appear in the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead but reappear in the second season in a role where they protect Clementine following the events at the end of the first season.

Both of them are charismatic and the combination of Omid's humor and Christa's determination makes them a perfect pairing. Though Omid eventually dies, it's never been clarified what exactly happened to Christa after she was separated from Clementine. Based on her personality fans believe that Christa made it out alive and is continuing her journey.

6 The Stranger

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters stranger

For the majority of Telltale's The Walking Dead's first season, it's unclear who the person on the other end of the walkie-talkie that Clementine talks to is. Are they a friend, or are they someone looking to hurt a little girl?

Well, it turns out that The Stranger was simply looking to rescue Clementine from a man in Lee Everett he considered to be a dangerous criminal. He makes a good villain because his perspective is clearly defined and it's easy to understand where he's coming from, despite him being incredibly wrong in his assumptions.

5 Alvin Jr.

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters Alvin Jr

The unfortunate thing with Alvin Jr. is that interest in him was directly tied to the fate of the Telltale The Walking Dead series. A lot of people dropped off of the game following Seasons 2 and 3, so many people weren't able to fully connect with and develop a bond with him.

His story is meant to parallel the relationship between Lee Everett and Clementine in the game's first season and feels like Clementine is passing the torch of what Lee taught her at a young age to a young boy in need of a mentor/guardian. His lack of compassion when killing perceived threats makes it feel as though his real father was the villain William Carver, and not Alvin, the man he's named after.

4 Kenny

Kenny is introduced to the player as a protective father and husband who's simply trying to protect his family. He comes off stubborn and short-tempered, but comes around to Lee Everett and understands that he isn't the leader of the group of survivors.

His journey through the games sees him lose loved ones, which ultimately hardens him to a point of apathy. Depending on the choices the player makes, he'll either die at the hands of Clementine, himself, or a zombie. All three are a fitting end to a man tainted with pain and misery.

3 Carver

Most people who have played through Telltale's The Walking Dead consider William Carver to be the series' best villain. He gets compared to Negan from the comics and television shows mostly due to his ruthless, yet successful leadership style.

He preys on the weak and likes to make it known he's willing to make the tough decisions. Carver believes that eliminating the weak makes the entire group stronger as a result. Famed actor Michael Madsen plays the role expertly and delivered a memorable villainous performance.

2 Clementine

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters Clementine

Clementine is the main character of Telltale's The Walking Dead saga, so it's hard not to consider her one of its more memorable characters. She's first introduced as a bright-eyed kid who's simply trying to get reconnected with her parents.

With Lee Everett's help, she comes to understand the harsh realities of the world they now live in. Thanks to his teachings she's able to navigate the world around her and ultimately become a difference maker for those around her. Anyone who gave the series a shot built a bond with Clementine that will likely withstand the test of time.

1 Lee Everett

Telltale Walking Dead Memorable Characters Lee Everett

It's hard to find a more memorable character in all of Telltale's The Walking Dead than the man who started it all. In the first season of the game, players took on the role of Lee Everett, a man on his way to jail, who was thrust into a zombie apocalypse.

The relationship he builds with Clementine, a young girl he finds abandoned in a tree house, is the core of what made the story so captivating and emotionally resonant with so many people. Despite the heartbreaking ending to his journey, the lessons he instilled in Clementine carried through as she grew older and learned how to survive on her own.

Telltale's The Walking Dead is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and many other platforms.
