Get ready to follow Shiny and Thunder on a bunch of wild adventures! The upcoming Netflix animation series Super Giant Robot Brothers follows two (super giant) robot siblings as they team up to defend Earth from space monsters—while also overcoming their own sibling rivalry.
The action-filled show is created by Love, Death & Robots directors Víctor Maldonado and Alfredo Torres and will hit the streamer August 4, 2022. In our exclusive clip from the series, the two robot brothers, Shiny and Thunder, fail to follow through with their sneaky attack due to electromagnetic fields messing with their system. Due to their system being faulty, they are unable to embark on their mission and things go terribly wrong.
The 10-episode 3D animated series is executive produced by Maldonado and Torres, alongside showrunner Tommy Blacha and Reel FX Animation Studios' Steve O’Brien and Jared Mass. The show is directed by Mark Andrews, who is best known for his work on the animated favorites The Incredibles, Cars, and the Academy Award-winning Pixar film Brave, with a core voice cast that includes Eric Lopez as Shiny, Chris Diamantopoulous as Thunder, Marisa Davila as Alex Rose, and Delbert Hunt as Creed.
Reel FX Animation Studios recently teamed with Netflix to create the animated comedy Back to the Outback. The movie takes place in a wildlife park in Australia and follows a group of seemingly-dangerous creatures as they escape from the sanctuary. The movie boasts an all-star voice cast including Isla Fisher, Tim Minchin, Guy Pearce, Keith Urban, Jacki Weaver, and more.
Despite reports that Netflix is reeling back its animated and family content, Super Giant Robot Brothers is one of many new animated releases from the streamer in August. The additional upcoming projects tap into both the nostalgic crowd and those craving new coverage including, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie on August 5, Deepa and Anoop on August 15, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on August 18, and Lost Ollie on August 24.
