RimWorld Console Edition is out today, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The space-colony sim came out in 2018, on PC, and developer Double Eleven has ported it to consoles.

Check out the trailer below:

The Description reads:

“Survive on a desolate planet, grow your colony and shape your colonists’ lives! Experience a rich and complex story generation system directed by an AI-driven Storyteller that uses your playstyle to create events – defend your colony from Pirate raiders, form complex and deep relationships between your colonists and micromanage every aspect of their lives. Each playthough is unique – what wild and wacky stories will you tell?”

You play as one of three would-be colonisers. Their names, believe it or not, are Phoebe Chillax, Cassandra Classic, and Randy Random, which seems suspect. Once you have picked your character, your job is then to set about the business of taming the wild.

It goes without saying, there are resources to collect and harvest, because there are always resources to collect and harvest.

Carniverous threats, the spread of plague, all manner of nastiness. It’s you against whatever rock you end up on. And the planets, like the colonists, are randomly generated. If you like Dwarf Fortress or The Sims, then you may well like this, too.

The developer, Ludeon Studios, has clearly made the game with replayability in mind, because there are multiple stories to experience, and you can choose a different character to experience different outcomes.
