In The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, there are numerous groups that the player can join, work for, and train under, like the Fighters Guild or the College of Winterhold. One of Skyrim's darker options is to join the Dark Brotherhood, a group of assassins.

Joining the Dark Brotherhood isn't extremely difficult, and it starts out with a quest that many players found themselves eagerly taking on. Bringing down Grelod the Kind at the Honorhall Orphanage in Riften is how players can get their start.

Grelod, despite her title, is anything but kind, as she frequently physically and verbally abuses the children who are under her care in the orphanage. This leads to one of the orphans escaping and then attempting to contact the Night Mother, and through her, the Dark Brotherhood, calling on them to take out Grelod. If the player meets the child, they can take on the contract despite not being a member of the Dark Brotherhood. One player marched into the orphanage to do just that, but was surprised at how tremendously brutal their Dragonborn was towards the woman.

Reddit user PoppyMMartin shared a brief gameplay clip of their Dragonborn dispatching Grelod. They enter the orphanage just in time to hear Grelod badgering the children and threatening them with 'extra' beatings. The Dragonborn simply walks up to her bare-handed and attacks, which instantly transitioned into the game's killcam function. The Dragonborn hits her with one fist up alongside the head before slamming her to the ground, all while she's still voicing her threat to the kids.

Grelod is an old woman, so as one might expect, she's physically quite fragile and can be defeated with ease no matter how the player chooses to go about it. PoppyMMartin entered the building with every intention of killing Grelod, but since Skyrim's killcam triggers can seem random to players, it took them by surprise. The children, however, aren't bothered at all, as they immediately begin to rejoice that the Dark Brotherhood has seemingly answered the call and killed her.

Other Skyrim players were quick to chime in, pointing out how horrific Grelod's treatment of the children seems to be. In addition to her actions that play out in front of the Dragonborn's eyes, a side room also contains shackles, likely indicating that she punished children by locking them up. With that in mind, many in the comments were happy to see the viciously cruel Grelod finally receive her comeuppance.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
