Valve's Steam Deck caused a lot of hype among the gaming community when it was first unveiled. Bringing the power of a decent PC to a handheld console was an exciting prospect for many, especially when it was revealed that gamers would have full access to their Steam library with the console. At the time of writing, over 4,000 games are compatible with the Steam Deck, and more titles will be continuously added to its roster with each major update. Some recent releases are still missing from the mobile platform, such as Halo Infinite. However, one player has a quick fix that can get the FPS working on Valve's handheld system.

Reddit user DanTheBloke posted a video on the social media platform of Halo Infinite working on the Steam Deck. Currently, there isn't an official method of getting the game to work on the handheld console, meaning players wanting to take Halo Infinite on the go will have to employ a workaround. Luckily, DanTheBloke was kind enough to drop some tips on how to get the FPS working in the comments of their post.

First, a player must go into their Steam Deck's settings and set the system update channel to the Preview beta build. Then, users have to install Proton GE, an alternative to installing Windows on the Steam Deck. Then, when loaded into Halo Infinite's launch screen, a player must set the compatibility so that it uses the latest version of Proton GE before going into desktop mode and renaming the videos folder or deleting the contents of the Halo Infinite install folder.

After that, Halo Infinite should be good to go on the Steam Deck. However, DanTheBloke does warn that the game comes with some bugs and doesn't run smoothly all the time. But, with the settings on low, Halo Infinite reportedly runs at 60FPS most of the time while on Steam Deck. Of course, along with the problems players will run into playing the game on the Steam Deck, Halo Infinite does have some other bugs as well that gamers on both Xbox and PC have run into.

The developers at 343 have been working on fixing a lot of Halo Infinite's bugs, with some still persisting even over six months post-launch. As well, 343 has released some new content updates for Halo Infinite including a beta for multiplayer co-op. Even with this anticipated feature being added to the game, some still are left unhappy as it is reported that Halo Infinite's co-op campaign won't allow for online matchmaking.

Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
