World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King Classic Is Launching September 26th

World of Warcraft's next expansion in its Classic version, Wrath of the Lich King, is officially releasing this September 26th.

Announced by Blizzard this morning, Wrath of the Lich King takes players back to Northrend in what is often considered one of the best MMORPG expansions of all time. The upcoming Classic retelling of Wrath of the Lich King sees players - both Horde and Alliance - take on one of the most iconic characters in MMORPG history: The Lich King Arthas Menethil.

Not only does the expansion bring players to the Frozen North, but also re-introduces the Death Knight, a hero class that typically would require a level 55 character on the server in order to create one. However, Blizzard states they are waiving that requirement for the first Death Knight a player creates in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King Classic will also see Naxxramas updated as a 25 or 10-player raid instead of its original 40-player requirement, as well as the addition of Achievements into WoW Classic.

For those looking to get a jump start on a new character or catch up before September 26th, The Burning Crusade Classic players will see an experience buff that grants 50% increase to experience gains. This buff is toggle-able as well, meaning players who want to still take their time getting to cap before Wrath Classic can  do so at an inn in a Captial City.

You can check out the full post on the World of Warcraft website. The timing of the announcement isn't too shocking as the Wrath of the Lich King Classic closed beta has been ongoing now for a few weeks. Blizzard has also recently confirmed that fresh start servers will be coming for Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
