CHARTS: Stray claws its way to No.2 spot on Steam

New cyberpunk cat title Stray was the second highest grossing game on Steam last week.

The game from indie label Annapurna has been all over social media for the last few weeks due to the fact you play as a very cute cat and can do very cute cat things. Stray came in second place behind – what else? – Valve's Steam Deck console which continues to be making the most money on the platform because it starts at $399.

Pre-orders for another former PlayStation exclusive, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, charted at third place. The game initially released back in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 but has since been updated for Sony's new PlayStation 5 to feature raytracing and a higher frame rate. Spider-Man is set to shoot onto Steam on August 12th.

Raft from Axolot drops two places to fourth week-on-week, while James Bendon's Dinkum make its debut in the charts at No.5. This is a new Early Access release which launched on July 14th and sees players exploring the Australian outback.

No Man's Sky once again returns to the Top Ten at No.6 thanks to a 50 per cent price cut while Valve's Index virtual reality headset charted in seventh place. Elden Ring drops from fourth to eighth week-on-week, coming ahead of the standard edition of Warner Bros' upcoming Smash Bros-inspired title, MultiVersus. An early access version of the title launched on July 19th ahead of an open beta on July 26th, which is also a soft launch. Keeping up? Good.

Rounding off the Top Ten is police shooter Ready or Not, which has dropped from fifth to No.10.

Here is the Steam Top Ten for the week ending July 23rd:

1. Steam Deck, Valve
2. Stray, Annapurna
3. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Sony (P)
4. Raft, Axolot
5. Dinkum, James Bendon
6. No Man's Sky, Hello Games
7. Valve Index Kit, Valve
8. Elden Ring, Bandai Namco
9. MultiVersus Founder's Pack – Standard Edition, Warner Bros
10. Ready or Not, Void Interactive
