The next game in the Assassin’s Creed series is, reportedly, called Assassin’s Creed Rift, and it takes place in Baghdad.

This comes from a Bloomberg reporter, Jason Schreier, who responded to someone on Reddit. That person claimed that the next game in the series will take place in an Aztec setting.

“The next AC game is Rift, which is set in Baghdad,” said Schreier. He then went on to explain Ubisoft’s near-future plans:

“After that will be AC Infinity, and while that’s going to include a bunch of different games/experiences/biomes/whatever you want to call them, I’ve heard about the main two and neither of them are Aztec.”

We have already heard about this game. On Reddit, Schreier linked to one of his own articles, from February, 2022, in which he discussed the game. It had the code-named “Rift” then. Now, it seems that it may actually be called that. It was, apparently, planned to be a standalone expansion of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

This new game, Assassin’s Creed Rift, will supposedly have you playing as Basim—who appeared in a supporting role in Valhalla. He was notable for actually being an Assassin, which is a rarity, these days, in Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced the game. But earlier reports suggested that it was a more stealthy, traditional game, with a smaller scope. That sounds nice.
