PlanetSide 2 Launches Surf And Storm Update On PC, Brings First Real Water Vehicle To MMOFPS

Rogue Planet Games' latest update for their long-running MMOFPS, PlanetSide 2, launched their latest update today, giving some love to the island continent of Oshur, as well as fitting players with their first ever water vehicle, the Corsair.

The update, which is out now on PC, gives players an easier way to navigate the island continent with the Corsair amphibious vehicle. The Corsair is an assault craft that can hold up to eight players and act as both a troop transport as well as an attack platform in its own right thanks to its two gunners protecting the Corsair while on the move.

The Corsair can also literally launch players into combat using the catapult system on the ship, dropping players right into the thick of things when the need arises.

PlanetSide 2's island continent of Oshur is also seeing some improvements, including relocating each Flotilla and resetting their lattice/region control to encourage more engagements throughout the island chain. The team has also tweaked victory conditions on Oshur, and the team at RPG mentions the island has been reworked to help facilitate underwater combat.

Speaking of, this mechanic also saw some attention, including reducing movement speed penalties while underwater, as well as tweaking weapons while also bringing the Diver Propulsion Device to help move freely while underwater. Oshur will also see new Seaposts to fight over, which is where you'll be spawning your new Corsairs.

You can check out the full update on the PlanetSide 2 website.
