Respawn Entertainment is recruiting for a single-player first-person shooter set in the world of Apex Legends.

The job listings (which Dexerto spotted) describe the upcoming game as “Apex Universe FPS incubation project.” And “a brand new Respawn single-player adventure.”

One job ad reads:

“This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits.”

This could be the game that Respawn already mentioned last year. At that time, creative Director Mohammad Alavi said that a “small, but ambitious” team was working on the game. (In Respawn-adjacent news, we know that Respawn is working on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The company revealed the first trailer for that game back in May of this year.) Alavi left Respawn in January this year.

As per a report from GamesBeat, the new game will centre on the notions of “mobility” and “style.”

Those are two things that also define Titanfall. The last single-player shooter that Respawn made was Titanfall 2, whose campaign was widely lauded. In VideoGamer’s review of that game, David Scammell said:

“As was the case with the original, the combination of Call of Duty-like fast-paced gunplay with Mirror’s Edge’s fluidity and flexibility is what makes it so successful. But it translates brilliantly well into a single-player campaign, as Respawn leads players along a rollercoaster of death-defying leaps and breathtaking set pieces.”

So, we know that Apex Legends could well make for an excellent single-player shooter. Certainly, if it’s as good as the game’s multiplayer offering then we’re in for a treat.
