While Gods reign supreme among humans and other races in the town of Orario in the Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? anime, there are many powerful mortals who deserve just as much renown. Progressing as an adventurer is a grueling task that is not for the faint at heart. However, there are diamonds hidden in the rough that rise to fame and are celebrated for their strength.
With so many races in Orario, it's increasingly difficult for a regular human to gain attention. Humans who do make the cut take prominent roles in strong Familias, such as the Freya and Loki Familia. Here are some of the strongest humans in "Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?", or Danmachi, as it is sometimes known.
Updated October 9, 2022 by C.M. Edwards: The fourth season of Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon has come and gone. Belle and his friends have triumphed once more in the face of a perilous quest and come out on the other side still intact. The Hestia Familia were pushed to their limit, facing challenges they never knew existed.
Belle was able to muster all the determination he had to get his friends out of harm's way alive while trying to save his own neck in the process. Many new characters made first-time appearances in the series, and the ever-growing list of powerful individuals keeps growing as Belle and his friends step toward something darker.
10 Horn
Horn is a human member of the Freya Familia who serves as Freya’s personal doll. Horn's only purpose is to be her master's eyes and ears when she can not afford to be there herself. Horn has a very spy-like role in the DanMachi, utilizing transformation magic to link herself with Freya, giving the Goddess the ability to see and hear through her senses.
Horn’s magic also allows her to transform into Freya herself, although she does not have access to any of Freya’s special abilities or magic and is simply there to keep up appearances or allow Freya to be in two places at once.
9 Hyakinthos Clio
Clio was the captain of the Apollo Familia before it was disbanded after the war game between Hestia and Apollo's Familias. He is a proud and arrogant warrior with great skill specializing in hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship. Clio was able to defeat Bell easily before his growth but was utterly outmatched in their second bout.
As the captain of the Apollo Familia, Clio filled himself with pride and discontent for all who he felt were beneath him, being an unpleasant individual to be around even amongst his allies. Clio became inducted into the Apollo Familia because of his looks, having been described as having beauty that resembled that of elves. Unfortunately, Clio acts more like a classic anime villain than anything else.
8 Rethusa
As captain of the Artemis Familia, Rethusa is a reserved and somewhat detached individual. However, her prowess on the battlefield is worthy of praise from her comrades. Loyal and dependable, Rethusa serves her Familia to the best of her ability with no half measures.
While Rethusas' personality can be a bit off-putting or distant at times, she is only reserved in her social aptitude. The Artemis Familia was a mighty force to be reckoned with, though, unfortunately, the goddess Artemis was sent back to heaven by Bell.
7 Yamato Mikoto
Mikoto is a wise and honorable warrior who belongs to the Takemikazuchi Familia. She first appeared in DanMachi during the war game between Hestia and Apollo. Mikoto is a very skilled warrior modeled after her deity, Takemikazuchi, who is a god of war.
While aiding Bell and Hestia in the war game, Mikoto displayed great skill in battle, wielding a Katana gracefully and utilizing special gravity magic to keep an entire squad of Apollo Familia adventurers pinned down for an extended period. Mikoto is skilled in several martial arts and numerous weapons and is always prepared for whatever challenge she may have to face.
6 Kashima Ouka
Ouka is the captain of the Takemikazuchi Familia and, as such, is the strongest among its members. He is a seasoned fighter with plenty of experience under his belt and this has earned him both his comrades' and his God's respect.
Talented in multiple forms of combat, such as swordplay, magic, and powerful ninjutsu arts, Ouka models himself after his God and devotes himself entirely to his Familia. Ouka is fearless and takes every challenge he faces head-on. His empathic nature and ability to speak his mind allow him to fight clearly on the battlefield.
5 Ais Wallenstein
One of the mightiest heroes in all of Orario is Ais Wallenstein. Also known as the Sword Princess, Ais is an expert in combat with a strong sword and a prominent adventurer who has progressed further than most in the dungeons. Her accolades are often the topic of discussion among her peers as she is idolized by many low-level adventurers, some of whom even claim that she is powerful enough to defeat the one-eyed black dragon.
Ais is a leading member of the Loki Familia, and even the captain of the Freya Familia acknowledges her strength. Ais is also the love interest of Bell Cranell and has somewhat romantic feelings for him as well despite also being his teacher in the art of combat. Ais constantly takes on utterly terrifying foes, going toe to toe with Udaeus and Asterius and holding her own.
4 Bell Cranell
Bell Cranel is the first member of the Hestia Familia. While he started as an underwhelming warrior, thanks to his resolve and untapped power, he is well on his way to becoming the most powerful adventurer in all of Orario.
Bell is a kind and gentle individual who cares deeply about his friends and his goddess, Hestia, and won't hesitate to place himself in between his friends and danger. Bell's innocent nature attracts many to his side and earns their unwavering loyalty. The likes of Ais Wallenstein, Hestia, and even the goddess Freya are all undoubtedly in Bell's corner, giving him the strength he needs to be great.
3 Zald
Zald was a member of the Zeus Familia and one of the deadliest warriors among adventurers. It is confirmed that Zald is one of the three most powerful characters that ever lived in the series. One of his abilities even allowed him to absorb the power of the foe whose flesh he consumed.
Because of this ability, Zald was greatly feared as a ruthless and gruesome opponent that bothered even the likes of Ottar, the currently strongest adventurer belonging to the Freya Familia. However, Zald was eventually forced into retirement after consuming the flesh of a behemoth that poisoned him and slowly robbed him of his strength.
2 Alfia
Alfia is an executive of the Hera Familia and, as such, is one of the most powerful humans in the entire DanMachi series; Alfia is known to level seven and excels in short chant magic that can blow the majority of heroes away in the blink of an eye with sound based attacks.
Alfia was cursed, which caused her magical power to be significantly reduced, but despite this, she is said to be able to defeat her captain of the Hera Familia easily, as well as members of the Zeus Familia as well. Alfia is also the aunt of Belle Cranel on his mother's side.
1 Alber Waldstein
Albert Waldstein has been confirmed as the most powerful adventurer to debut in the Danmachi series. He was known for his exceptional sword skill earning the title of Sword Champion. Albert was so skilled with a sword, he easily surpassed many of the top members of the Zeus and Hera Familia.
Albert is the father of Ais Waldstein and the husband of Aria, Belle’s mother, whom he loved dearly, even willing to give up his adventuring for them. Unfortunately, Albert perished in the fight against the one-eyed black dragon, receiving a fatal wound and being wiped out with the rest of the familiar and some of the strongest gods in Danmachi.
