The next Battlefield game isn't likely to be coming anytime soon. Both developer DICE and publisher EA have stated that their main priority in regard to the franchise is Battlefield 2042. DICE has stated it has learned valuable lessons from Battlefield 2042's poorly received launch and will seek to change plans around the next game in the series in order to not repeat past mistakes. Even with the next Battlefield title facing somewhat of a setback, it seems DICE is already gearing up to improve on the shooter series.Recently, a job listing was spotted for a Design Director at what is being referred to by EA as the "Battlefield Seattle Studio." Unlike other Battlefield teams, the developers working in Seattle are primarily focused on creating narrative experiences. The details of this job role imply that a new Battlefield single player campaign may be in development soon, if it's not already, something that many fans will be happy to hear after a single-player experience was notably absent from Battlefield 2042.RELATED: EA Responds to Rumors of 'Skeleton Crew' Working on Battlefield 2042Now, it seems that the team slated to work on the new Battlefield campaign may have a big name in the gaming industry joining on. Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo, tweeted back in October 2021 that he had joined EA as a game director and was working to build a new studio in the Seattle area with a focus on "first-person games." Now that fans know more about the purpose of the Seattle studio, it seems highly likely that Lehto is working on the new Battlefield title and building its campaign.

Currently, there isn't much information on what the new Battlefield game is going to look like. There were rumors that it was going to be a Battlefield hero shooter, but those have since dwindled as it seems that EA wants to take the series in a new direction. With Marcus Lehto involved, many fans are hyped about the potential quality of the upcoming single-player campaign, even if they don't have many details on it. As Lehto is a Halo veteran, with experience developing the first three games in the sci-fi shooter series, he could certainly help elevate the standard of the next Battlefield's campaign.

While it does seem most likely that the team in Seattle is working on a new Battlefield game, there are some fans who believe that the single-player experience being created will come as DLC for Battlefield 2042. This is because of Battlefield 2042's aforementioned lack of a single-player campaign and the fact that DICE has stated its primary focus is Battlefield 2042 for the foreseeable future.

A new Battlefield is rumored to be in development.
