Valorant exploded onto the tactical FPS market midway through 2020. With its Counterstrike-inspired gameplay, alongside its unique and varied roster of agents from Overwatch, Valorant drew from the best of both games to release as one of the top first-person shooters of 2020. Like Riot's other IP League of Legends, Valorant comes with its own form of leveling system which scales infinitely. This system was designed to reward players for their playtime and experience with the game and the player's level is publicly displayed on their banner.

Valorant: How to Hide Account Level

Valorant Player Card Hiding Level

In order for players to hide their account level in Valorant they will need to:

  1. Head to the Collections tab
  2. Select the "Player Cards" icon on the left-hand side of the menu
  3. Select the "Level Borders" tab
  4. Underneath the Player Card on the screen, there should be an option to "Show my account level on my player card". Disabling this option will hide the player's account level.

Benefits Of Hiding A Valorant Account Level

Hiding an account's level has quite a number of benefits, one of the main positives being that it avoids potential toxicity from other players based on their own account levels. Keep in mind that doing this process does not hide the account level from the player's friends and will still be shown on their friend's list. It will only make it so that other players cannot see what level the player's account is. Fortunately, this will not affect the player's experience gain or battle pass progression.

People have made arguments against hiding account levels especially to prevent smurfs from hiding their levels to make their accounts less conspicuous. Unfortunately, smurfing isn't against Riot's Terms of Service and won't result in a ban. It is however frowned upon by a majority of the community as it ruins games for other players.

Another alternative option players have offered is toggling visibility on player levels after the account reaches a certain threshold; this way, it guarantees the account has had experience on it before being able to hide the level of the user piloting the account. Riot has taken measures against smurfs, so hopefully, the company looks further into implementing methods against smurfing as a whole, which is especially important when protecting Valorant's competitive integrity.
