The Duviri Paradox in 2019

A group of players in Warframe

The 2019 trailer for The Duviri Paradox revealed a nearly monochromatic alien world with a lone figure wearing a Zariman suit traversing the landscape. Soon, an Orokin voidwyrm appears, knocking the figure over to reveal a featureless mask. In the distance, The Zariman Ten Zero is buried in the ground like lost ruin. Further along, a second figure, perhaps a Dax, rides a horse-like creature and charges the masked protagonist.

The mask wearer survives as they're soon seen riding the same horse creature, twirling a shotgun onto their back as they ride toward the the Zariman Ten Zero, an Orokin colony ship that vanished into the Void during a Void-Jump. The accidental jump also gave this ship's inhabitants mysterious powers from the Void, who later became the Tenno that control Warframes.

The Duviri Paradox in 2022

The new trailer showcases most of the original trailer's scenes, albeit with a little more color, and a narrator that further develops the latest threats and dangers. Remaining vague, at least until Tennocon 2022, seems to work in the game's favor as fans have been speculating about the game's future.

As details remain under wraps, there are several clues to discern from the content that has been released, starting with the name of the expansion. Utilizing the word paradox implies not only the concept of paradoxical occurrence, but it calls to mind the real-world Twin Paradox. These similarities could imply that time itself may be a vital feature of the expansion, along with the idea of people experiencing paradoxes due to the manipulated nature of time itself.

Possible Duviri Meanings

Warframe has hinted at the possible meanings of Duviri in the past, teasing players with aspects that have long foreshadowed the expansion and its content. Within the context of the New War, the class on Temporal Studies focuses on the idea that all timelines are true and there may be ways to reach them. Looking into the real world, the Sanskrit word "dvari" means door, which may indicate that the expansion looks to explore the doorway to all infinite timelines.

Warframe's popularity comes from its free-to-play nature, growing story, and open-world expansions that bring players more content over time. With the release of the 2019 and 2022 trailers for the Duviri Paradox, Digital Extremes has teased a new, massive open-world story that may explore the nature of time travel, paradoxes, and other elements that are involved within the idea of time dilation and special relativity. With more content promised to debut at Tennocon 2022 on July 16, players will soon have more answers to the mysteries that await them in Warframe.

Warframe is available for play on the PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
