Highly popular battle royale game Fortnite is known to run a crazy crossover or two over the years. While a lot of gamers in the general community have not looked upon them too favorably, a lot of Fortnite players themselves seem to love them, albeit when given in small doses. Ever since the first Infinity War crossover, Epic Games has added content from movie franchises to video games and even influencers to its ever-popular battle royale.

Since then, the battle royale has collaborated with popular gaming franchises such as Resident Evil and Street Fighter, and even added Among Us cosmetics, featuring various characters as skins that players can exchange V-Bucks for, or by participating in special events. Recently, Fortnite entered Chapter Three, and the game has even brought along the recently released Tiny Tina's Wonderland into the mix. There are plenty of other franchises that the colorful battle royale could do a crossover with; here are five video game franchises that haven't yet joined the fray.

Fortnite x FromSoftware

While there are rumors that a crossover between Fortnite and Elden Ring might become a reality, the battle royale game has yet to feature a title from FromSoftware during a crossover event. Although the developers have added an homage to the Sun Bros' world-renowned sun-praising gesture as the emote "Praise the Tomato," there hasn't been a direct crossover between the two in the history of Fortnite.

There are plenty of beloved characters that Epic Games could choose from across all of FromSoftware's library of games. Whether it's Warrior Jar Alexander or Solaire of Astoria, there's someone from the Dark Souls or Elden Ring games that will most definitely be a hit as a skin. The developers could also design a Fortnite area that's FromSoftware-esque with medieval structures, and even the game's building mechanics could be given an old school redesign as part of the FromSoft-inspired area.

Fortnite x Grand Theft Auto

Gangster Fortnite hasn't yet been done, and a crossover with the Grand Theft Auto series would be the best way for the battle royal to go about it. With Rockstar confirming Grant Theft Auto 6 to be in development, iconic items and characters from every Grand Theft Auto game currently out there could also work in Rockstar's favor. Crossovers in general tend to help with boosting views on the video games being featured, and if Rockstar wants as many eyes on its upcoming addition to their beloved franchise as possible, this could be the way to go about it.

Fortnite's gameplay already features lots of gunplay, so battling it out mafia-style as GTA characters might not be so farfetched. A Grand Theft Auto crossover could feature a map that's inspired by San Andreas or Vice City where the grapple glove in Fortnite would be great fun to use. With this crossover idea, players could also get their hands on a Trevor skin or grab Tommy's signature Hawaiian T-shirt for players' own characters to flaunt.

Fortnite x Splatoon

Fighting a match in Splatoon 3

Epic Games has yet to do a crossover with a Nintendo franchise, but if it were to, the Splatoon series would be a great place to start. The Splatoon games are just as colorful and vibrant as Fortnite itself, so the ink-splattering gameplay could find itself a decent home within the beloved battle royale. This big Fortnite crossover idea could open up to players needing to implement fresh strategies to get themselves a win.

Nintendo isn't a stranger to crossovers. In fact, its entire Super Smash Bros. series revolves around massive crossovers between gaming franchises – both within and outside of Nintendo's own repertoire. Epic Games doesn't necessarily need to feature a new Fornite map for this crossover idea, but it should definitely feature Inkling or Octoling skins and utilize Splatoon's ink-swimming mechanic to spice gameplay up, perhaps by creating a special gameplay mode. With the Splatoon-inspired game mode, players could switch from ink gun to regular weapons to splatter their ink all over the area, including over other players' buildings, and use their ink streams to get from A to B.

Fortnite x Dungeons and Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons Jack of All Trades Build

Medieval and fantasy seem to be popular themes in Fortnite's Creative Hub, and Epic Games can take advantage of this popularity by doing a crossover with one of the biggest medieval-fantasy franchises: Dungeons and Dragons. While Epic did release the dragon-looking Klombo in Fortnite's v19.10 update, it has yet to add actual dragons or feature actual medieval gameplay.

A crossover between Fortnite and a franchise like Dungeons and Dragons could highlight melee-first weapon mechanics, or place bows and crossbows at the fore; it could even introduce magical abilities to Fortnite's gameplay. All buildings could be made from logs instead of planks, adding to the medieval feel, and players could choose a selection of skins that relate to classic D&D classes like Wizards, Paladins, and Rogues, perhaps each with a unique emote to match their personal game style.

Fortnite x Pokemon

Another Nintendo franchise that Epic Games could cross over with is the classic Pokemon series. Some great Fortnite crossover skins could have players dressing their characters up as Pokemon trainers while healing items could be redesigned as classic Pokemon potions, fish could be turned into specific Water-type Pokemon like Magikarp, and foraged fruits could be turned into the different Berry types found in Pokemon.

Although perhaps difficult to implement, there could be a limited-timed gameplay event where players have to battle each other's creatures to win the battle royale – no weapons, just creatures. Fortnite is already full of unique creatures that players could use to battle it out against each other and perhaps to keep gameplay interesting, special NPCs in Fortnite could give players unique buffs to give their creatures the edge. Or, to keep things simple, Pokeballs could be made as a trap within regular gameplay.

Fortnite is out now on Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
