With a demo, gameplay trailer and soundtrack sneak peak available right here.

Untold Tales are at it again. Not only are we getting a new beautifully animated and stylised 2D platform parkour game, it’s only set in the universe of Golf Club: Wasteland. That’s right, that almighty gem of a title I reviewed last year. I only lavished it with a bit praise, after all.

To virtually no-one’s surprise then, the latest showing off of The Cub, demonstrating the same idyllic dystopian world of post-apocalyptic Earth and eerie yet comforting atmosphere has got me rather excited for Demagog Studio’s next adventure. The colourful and stunning aesthetics return, only this time with more platforming to navigate, creatures to evade and less golf balls to hit. Never thought I’d see the day where the absence of golf felt like a sadness for me, but here we are. What do you do to me Untold Tales?!

Don’t just take my word for it though, as you can check out the latest gameplay trailer below:

Not just content to shower us with more gameplay however, oh no. Untold Tales, along with many other studios involved in the summer festivals, gleefully dropped a fully-fledged demo on Steam which you can play right now! It comprises 3 levels from the game itself, but most importantly, gives us our first taste of the returning Radio Nostalgia From Mars. If you’ve read my review for Golf Club: Wasteland, you’ll know just how impressed I was with the satirical commentary and discourse-busting tunes from the radio station. Give me the opportunity to hear more of its expert delivery and creative lyrics and I’m gonna be all over it.

Inspired by classic SEGA games of the 90s like Aladdin, Lion King and The Jungle Book, The Cub is aiming for a bit of nostalgia in its design but with a more modern flavour. Something about that seems all-too-fitting given it takes place on a decimated Earth, reclaiming its naturalistic roots but with the remnants of modern society dotted around. Instead of being a Mars-dwelling visitor this time around though, we’ll be playing as one of the people left behind on Earth following society’s downfall. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get to run into golf-club guy and what a treat that would be.

Sadly, there’s no firm release date for The Cub as of yet, which breaks my achy-breaky heart. But it will be coming to PS4/5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. So, everything basically. In the meantime, you can check out the preview for Radio Nostalgia From Mars and a couple of glorious screenshots right here.
