Metal: Hellsinger Is An Explosive New Shooter And You Can Try It Now

Funcom just pressed play, confirming a release date and new demo for incendiary new musical FPS Metal: Hellsinger.

Whether you’re stuck at home while the rest of your friends head to Download or are still counting down the days until Hellfest, Funcom and The Oustiders have something for you. During last night’s Summer Games Festr, Funcom and developer The Outsiders confirmed a release date for Metal: Hellsinger. Players who are already for heavy riffs, skull crushing bass lines, and some of the biggest names in metal can expect to get into the game across PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, and Steam on 15 September 2022.

Even better, while you whittle away the hours on your pre-festival mix tapes, what better way to prepare for the pit than trying out the free demo for this infernal experience. Available across all upcoming platforms ahead of release, and online right now, the demo is a taser of what to expect when you descend into Hellsinger and blast away demons to the breakbeat.

For those that haven’t familiarized themselves with this metal monster, Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm based FPS expereince in the vein of BPM but with a distinctly louder metal edge. Armed with an array of powerful weapons and upgrades, players can stalk eight different realms of Hell as The Unknown. Part human and part beast you’ll shoot on the beat will enhance your gameplay experience. While players can expect to be accompanied by their trusty skull-clad blade and other explosive guns, the backing track is almost as powerful. Alissa White-Glüz’s vocals are prominent through the demo level, while the full release will feature a searing original soundtrack by composer duo Two Feathers and vocals by the likes of Serj Tankian, Dennis Lyxzen, and Matt Heafy. You can check out how that all comes together in the trailer above or grab the demo now on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox Storefronts.
