Notorious Studios is one of the many game studios created by former Blizzard developers that popped up over the last couple of years. Recently, Notorious Studios announced its unnamed multiplayer action fantasy game, codenamed Project Honor, as well as a partnership with OTK.

Project Honor and Notorious Studios appeared at the OTK Games Expo on June 8th. The game reveal took place simultaneously with the announcement of OTK’s partnership with Notorious Studios as a financial investor and associate.

Though information about Project Honor is sparse, Notorious Studios revealed a few details about the upcoming game. While not a true MMORPG, Project Honor will be an online, class-based fantasy action RPG with solo and multiplayer elements. The game, built with the Unreal 5 engine, seeks to capture the ultimate RPG class fantasy in immersive third-person combat. So far, it has revealed the Warrior, Mage, and Priest classes, though more are certain to follow.

OTK is a media network co-founded by Twitch streamers Asmongold, Mizkif, Esfand, Rich Campbell, and Tips Out. The organization focuses on content creation and eSports competition. Though the members of OTK are not involved in the day-to-day production of Project Honor, as investors, they have already begun working with Notorious Studios to playtest, brainstorm, and provide feedback for the nascent game.

This sort of partnership between a game studio and a group of content creators is unprecedented in the world of gaming. Notorious Studios was formed primarily of ex-World of Warcraft players-turned-developers, and Asmongold and other OTK members have a strong history in World of Warcraft. With so many like-minded gamers with extensive experience in the genre putting their heads together, Project Honor looks promising.

Project Honor is in the early stage of development, so there is currently no gameplay footage. However, Notorious Studios did release early concept art for the game, which can be found on the official website. The art style takes clear inspiration from Warcraft, Lord of the Rings, and other classic fantasy settings while remaining unique.

Notorious Studios is not the only ex-Blizzard dev studio who has recently revealed information on their upcoming projects. Frost Giant Studios just announced Stormgate–its science fantasy real-time strategy game–at the Summer Game Fest. The free-to-play title is aiming for an early 2023 beta, with a launch sometime later in the year. Fans of Blizzard games should keep an eye on both of these titles, and the unannounced projects by similar studios like Dreamhaven and Lightforge Games.

Project Honor is in development for PC.
