It’s always nice when a bullet hell game like Wildcat Gun Machine has some RPG elements implemented in it. That said, the game doesn’t dive too heavily into things like leveling up and upgrading, instead remaining loyal to the idea of a more traditional bullet hell game. Players have to dodge an endless amount of colored bullets spamming the entire map while trying to hit the enemies that are shooting them.

As simple as that sounds, players actually have to upgrade a few things here and there in order to elevate their gameplay and raise their chances of surviving each act, especially the first two. With that in mind, here are the best upgrades for the early stages of Wildcat Gun Machine.

The Best Early Upgrades To Buy In Wildcat Gun Machine

Each act in Wildcat Gun Machine introduces players to a new set of pistols, upgrades, and special weapons. These items elevate the character’s gameplay and damage, allowing them to have an easier time discovering the maze. Since the game is fairly easy, it isn't necessary to upgrade any Respawn Cat at the start. However, it is a must after Act Three, as enemy hordes will be much tougher to deal with.

Increase Movement Speed

Movement Speed is an important aspect of all bullet hell games, and Wildcat Gun Machine is no different. While shooting, the character will move slower and be more vulnerable to eat a lot of damage. Increasing Movement Speed by three levels is crucial for smoother gameplay while dealing with the dungeon’s demons.

Dash Charges And Cooldown Reduction

In many situations, players will find themselves stuck against the wall with hundreds of chaotic bullets roaming the entire area. Using the Dash is the only way to get out of these situations, as no weapon or ability can counter enemy attacks.

Dashing gives the character a small window of iFrame, allowing them to be invincible while dashing and easily slide out of harm’s way. Besides all that, after using a Dash, players have a short time to Dash again, consuming no Charge and expanding the iFrame to a few seconds of invincibility. That makes Dashing the only defensive upgrade in Wildcat Gun Machine.

There are two kinds of Dash upgrades: Charges, and Cooldown Reduction. Both are equally important, as one adds the ability to Dash more, while the other speeds up its usage. Players should upgrade one of each, and, as they progress in the second act, they’ll have enough for one more Dash upgrade. Picking either is fine.

Incendiary Grenade

All bosses in Wildcat Gun Machine follow the tactic of spamming attacks until they finally land a hit. It can become really annoying to shoot them while trying to avoid all their attacks. The best way to deal with the spamming is to send them an Incendiary Grenade as a present and Dash through their spamming while they take the continuous burning damage.

Even during the endgame after players have unlocked better and more useful Grenades, Incendiary Grenades remain the best option to deal with bosses, especially those who don’t have any mobility.

Wildcat Gun Machine is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
