Meet Your Tales of Tribute Card Deck Patrons in This Elder Scrolls Online Preview

When it comes to The Elder Scrolls Online’s upcoming High Isle chapter, one of the features is the new Tales of Tribute card game. While ZeniMax has revealed a little about the card game, and more when announcing that actor Billy Boyd would be voicing your host, Braghas, information about your card decks came with the important detail that each card deck would have a corresponding patron that themes the entire deck, and how each patron could affect the outcome. Now there's a preview of the first four patrons corresponding with the four decks you'll get early.

The Duke of Crows is the first highlighted patron and his cards are focused on creating combos. These combos are advantageous in that they let you draw more cards. According to Senior Systems Designer Irenio Calmon-Huang, “It benefits from going heavily into the suit, perhaps more than any other deck. If you can reach the tipping point you may find yourself drawing most of your deck in a single turn.”

Grandmaster Delmeme Hlaalu’s deck is focused on acquiring goods so the deck will get coin and cards from the Tavern.

Saint Pelin’s deck has two advantages - “generating Power and getting agents with taunt onto the field,” according to Irenio. This helps you push through your opponent's agents and could get you closer to a Prestige victory.

The final deck, Psijic Loremaster Celarus, focuses on helping you speed up your deck, letting you get to  better cards faster and keeping them out of your opponent's hands.

Each of the patrons has a featured power you can choose to tap into. The Duke of Crows offers power in exchange for coin, and that’s all. So if you have sufficient coin and it's the right time to trade for Power, it could be a good gamble. Grandmaster Delmene Hlaalu’s power will let you trade cards you gain from the Tavern for Prestige. It could mean closing the gap to victory. Saint Pelin’s power lets you restore agents from your cooldown to the top of the draw pile so you can get them out there quickly. Finally, Loremaster Celarus’ power can help you even exert a bit of control over opponent's side of the board. He can help deal with enemy agents and make them vulnerable.
