Final Fantasy 14 recently shared the results of its last Weapon Design Contest, where players submitted fan-designed weapons to be implemented in-game in its future. Final Fantasy 14 is already holding a second Weapon Design Contest–this time for the new Reaper and Sage jobs introduced in Endwalker.

The Weapon Design Contest in Final Fantasy 14 gives players the opportunity to share their creativity with the rest of the community. The best concepts win several in-game items as prizes, with the grand prize winners having their ideas implemented into the game as actual weapons at a later date.

The entries must fit a specific design template provided by Final Fantasy 14 on the contest’s announcement page. Beyond the file specifications, it details the traits it is looking for in regard to the weapons themselves. Reapers in Final Fantasy 14 wield large collapsible scythes, while Sages use four identical gun-like wands called nouliths that float in an array around them. As long as entries fit the parameters described by FF14, they can qualify for several cosmetic prizes, like the adorable Bluebird Earrings, Cloud Strife’s hair, or the new Great Serpent of Ronka parasol.

Players interested in entering the contest have until June 12th to submit their entries. Though Final Fantasy 14 has not said when the results will be announced, players can probably expect to see the finalists within a few months after the contest ends.

The previous Weapon Design Contest in Final Fantasy 14 saw a huge amount of creativity in the entries. With a range of cute, comical, and cool designs, players will have a slew of awesome weapons to collect in the near future. Though the Grand Prize winners and finalists were all fantastic, plenty of designs that didn’t even make the cut were excellent.

Many are excited to see what their fellow Final Fantasy 14 players create for the Sage and Reaper classes in the Weapon Design Contest. The Sage and Reaper classes have been extremely popular since their introduction, and the weapons lend themselves easily to many interesting concepts players can’t wait to see put to paper. Some players have even begun to share some hilarious ideas, including one of the low-polygon grapes of Endwalker infamy.

The Final Fantasy 14 community has had more strife than usual over the last couple of weeks. Between the woes with the recently-resolved Housing Lottery System and Final Fantasy 14’s crackdown on third-party tools and datamining, some Final Fantasy 14 players have seen conflict break out amidst its normally-positive community. Hopefully, contests such as this can mend the wounds caused by recent drama.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
