Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards will be the latest N64 game added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.

Nintendo has declared that the pink puffball’s 2000 adventure will arrive on the service next week, on May 20. You’ll be swallowing your enemies in classic Kirby style in this 2.5D platformer, which introduced Power Combos to the series. This sees Kirby able to mix and match powers to make more powerful ones.

This Kirby outing also included a suite of minigames that could be played with friends. Of course, they make their return in this version, with the added perk of being able to play online. Which definitely sounds easier than trying to convince your friends to use the questionable third party joypad as we had to back in the day.

It’s the latest addition to the classic N64 library available on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for subscribers. Last month saw the addition of Mario Golf 64 which itself followed F-Zero X back in March. The service also saw the addition of three additional Mega Drive games just a couple of weeks ago.

Of course, the release of Kirby 64 also comes shortly after the hero’s latest outing. Kirby and the Forgotten Land released in the latter half of March, and you can check out Josh’s thoughts on the demo here.  It’s already the most successful entry in the franchise too.
