Developer Glumberland has declared that quirky life sim Ooblets will get its full release later this summer.
The news came as part of last night’s Nintendo Indie Direct broadcast. The video of course revealed that the game will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, but the devs took to Twitter soon after to confirm the full release on Xbox and PC too. This follows a two year period of early access, which the game has been in (and updated) since July of 2020.
In case you’re unfamiliar, the game describes itself as a “pretty weird game about farming, creature collection and dancing”. To that end, you play a character who arrives in Badgetown, a seaside town in the land of Oob. Here, you’re greeted by the Mayor and tasked with running a farm. There, you’ll meet unusual creatures called Ooblets, who are grown from seeds and can be used to perform tasks.
That’s not all they can do, of course. There’s missions from the townsfolk, fishing, crafting, gift-giving and more all to do in this bizarre location. And rather than getting into fisticuffs, Ooblets settle their differences with dance battles, with a range of moves and abilities. Some of the extra additions to the game over the past couple of years have included things like the ability to run your own shop too. All this and more will feature in the game’s 1.0 release.
