Gunbrella is an upcoming “noir-punk action-adventure” coming to Switch and PC in 2023.

Nintendo revealed the game as part of its Indie World Showcase today. Check out the reveal trailer below: which and but so

The description reads:

“Gunbrella is a noir-punk action-adventure set in a world dependent on a rapidly diminishing natural resource. Players take the role of a gruff woodsman on a quest for revenge, armed with the mysterious Gunbrella: a firearm that doubles as an umbrella. His investigation becomes entangled with the inner workings of ghouls and gangsters, cops and cultists, and the fallout of corporate exploitation.”

The developer is Doinksoft, whose previous work includes Demon Throttle and Gato Roboto. The latter of those two games featured a cat that pilots a robot. So the studio has history when it comes to concepts.

In our review of that game, Colm Ahern said:

“That elation after finally thwarting the killer rat is reward itself, yeah, but the extra goodies aren’t nearly as satisfying.”

The concept in the new game seems to be that you play as a man who wields a cross between a gun and an umbrella. Again, this is all good stuff, and the game also features ghouls, which is rarely a bad thing.

Devolver Digital is publishing Gunbrella, and it is coming to Switch and PC in 2023.
