For those who have been keeping track, Ubisoft’s The Division 2 is finally getting the long-awaited Season 9: Hidden Alliance content update on May 12, 2022. This marks the first major patch to the game nearly halfway through 2022.
Season 9 features a new target, new gear, new weapons, and an all-new battle pass for players to progress through. In addition, a pair of new features ought to intrigue players looking for new challenges:
- Countdown is an 8-player co-op mode with teams working to clear out a power plant. This involves taking out human enemies and dealing with a number of hazards to successfully complete the mission. The team is split into 4 pairs that begin at different starting points and only 15 minutes to complete unique challenges and objectives. Everyone needs to achieve their objectives for the entire team to be successful.
- Expertise is a new weapon enhancement system that offers a simple way to better gear: Use it. As players use weapons, they will move through Proficiency Ranks. As each rank is completed, players will be able to enhance the base stats of the weapon. No muss. No fuss.
To entice folks to come along and try out Season 9, Ubisoft is running a free weekend from May 13th to May 15th. Progress attained during the free weekend will be kept for those who opt to purchase the game which is also steeply discounted for the duration of the event.
