Spring Into Action With The Leap Public Beta This Weekend

Play fast and loose with the ground this weekend as upcoming FPS Leap launches a public playtest.

Available right now and open to players on PC, the Leap public playtest is an opportunity for gamers who hate being tied down to get up and blow away the competition before the launch of Leap. Inviting all comes this weekend’s open play time is already ongoing and runs right up until 7 May at 6PM PDT. Players looking to log into this firefight can simply aim for the official Leap Steam Store page and request access to the test.

For those that aren’t already clicking away, leap is preparing for takeoff via Steam Early access soon. Set in a future where you will face off as part of the United Earth Defense Coalition (UEDC) or the rebel Exo-Terran, Leap drops players into huge online battles. With up to 60 players engaged at any one time, the ferocity and scale of combat is immense and there are plenty of ways to turn the tide of battle. Riding in on a nimble hoverboard, swinging across maps using a handy grappling hook, or trotting by on a mechanical moose, you’ll scour a vast variety of terrain to find enemies and expel them with a vast variety of in game abilities. Each player’s own Exosuit comes with its own particular properties, including an ultimate ability that could call in an Orbital Laser to wipe out a group of enemies or throw down a Support Shield to take temporary cover from enemy fire.

Players jumping in can check out a variety of improvements and updated gameplay features in the latest playtest, including an all-new PVE mode – Special Operations – where mercenaries squad up into teams of four and work together to fight. If you’re wondering what this all looks like, check out the teaser above or head over to the official Leap Steam Store page now.
