The majority of multiplayer games support some form of crossplay these days, but FIFA has been a holdout. While Sony’s own sports series MLB The Show integrated the feature last year, EA Sports has been reluctant to enable it. However, a test in the PS5 version of FIFA 22 – this month’s PS Plus game – is now live, enabling footie fans to kick-off against Xbox Series X|S and Google Stadia players.
The functionality is limited to Online Seasons and Online Friendlies right now, so no Ultimate Team or Pro Clubs for the time being. You’ll also be able to opt out from the main menu if, for whatever reason, you don’t want to use it. If you go ahead, however, you’ll be able to create an in-game friends list so you can play with your pals on other platforms.
It’s widely expected that FIFA 23 will feature full crossplay across the board, so this feels like EA Sports testing its netcode ahead of the new game’s launch. Can you crossplay PS5 to PS4 yet? Last time I tried this it didn't work..
@VatoLoco47 given that there are two different versions of the game on xbox and they don't let you as well I'd think not.
