Dune Spice Wars, the latest follow up to the classic Dune strategy series has stepped into Steam Early Access. Available over on PC for £24.99 or local equivalent and taking something of a twist on the well established RTS title, this new trip to the source of all Spice is about to challenge players old and new to overcome hostile conditions, an ever impending threat of dehydration, and other aggressive houses.
To do all this, you’ll need to use more than the barrel of a gun. Incorporating 4X strategy elements, Dune Spice Wars allows gamers to wield political maneuvering, military might, sabotage, and wise resource allocation to win. Along the way, uncontrollable elements like storms or giant Sandworms might simply overturn all your efforts. While those Sandworms are something of an icon of sci-fi tales, they are not the only returning theme from other Dune media. The newest Dune game features the respected House Atreides and the devious House Harkonnen. It also contains masters of desert survival, the native Fremen, and the Smugglers. Each of these constitutes a playable faction, with the Fremen just recently confirmed, who players must lead across a barren top down landscape that holds all the treasures the universe could offer.
