There are many rare encounters in the pirate simulator Sea of Thieves, and players occasionally run into multiple things that challenge them at once, causing mad scrambles or sunken ships. Two Sea of Thieves fans were recently sunk due to a combination of a Megalodon, Skeleton Sloop, and volcano attacking them at the same time.

Reddit user RussellCoight88 shared a clip of their adventures on the large ocean of Sea of Thieves. The video captures the moments after a Skeleton Sloop attack in which the two pirates are scrambling to repair their pirate ship as a neighboring dormant volcano becomes active and shoots fireballs into the sky. This begins a string of bad luck for the players, as they are still attempting to recover from the Skeleton Sloop when a Megalodon approaches the port side of the boat for one final strike.

RussellCoight88's video starts by showing the rear of the Sloop catching fire from the lava spewed out by the nearby volcano before the Sea of Thieves player turns around to show the sinking Skeleton Sloop and its loot. The Skeleton Sloop rewards float in the water, giving off a bright glow like Captain Bones' ship as the players go to the lower decks of their boat to retrieve water to pour on the fires. Their efforts are to no avail, however, as the primary player climbs the ladder to the Crow's Nest just to see an approaching Megalodon that seeks to capitalize on the weakened vessel.

The volcano eases up its barrage in RussellCoight88's clip, but it's too late for the players, as the Megalodon takes a bite out of the Sloop before they can react at all. The single strike is enough to make the Sloop capsize rapidly, throwing the pirates into the ocean as a result. RussellCoight88 takes one final shot at the victorious Megalodon with their pistol before returning to the surface of the ocean, doubtlessly left waiting for a mermaid to spawn so that they can return to sailing the Sea of Thieves with a fresh Sloop.

Because the Sea of Thieves Megalodon was able to defeat these two players before they could loot the Skeleton Sloop, they were unable to return to an outpost for their reward. It isn't abnormal for two of Sea of Thieves' random encounters to trigger at the same time, but these pirates had notably bad luck to run into three ocean threats all at once. Fortunately, with no noticeable plunder on their boat, this triple Sea of Thieves occurrence may not have set RussellCoight88 and their crewmate back too far beyond losing the Skeleton Sloop items.

Sea of Thieves is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
