Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be in much better shape nowadays. While the original vision may never be fully realized, CD Projekt Red has released several patches that have supposedly fixed the most significant issues. Cyberpunk 2077 is also compatible with Steam Deck, and the developer had recently added an option for optimized graphics settings in patch 1.52.

CD Projekt Red continues to release regular updates for Cyberpunk 2077, and February saw the launch of a massive patch that was released alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. The developer also offered a special discount and a limited-time trial to attract new players. A few days ago, on a livestream, CD Projekt Red confirmed that more work was to be done on Cyberpunk 2077, including the development of a full expansion. Now, CD Projekt Red has given an official release window for Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion.

CD Projekt Red announces that the expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 will release in 2023. This news comes from the latest financial call, which also revealed the total sales numbers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red mentions that it will share more details on this expansion later this year and has posted an image featuring its production plans for 2022.

The major projects currently in development at CD Projekt Red include a brand new Witcher game and the release of a next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS5 and Xbox Series X. It also confirms that CD Projekt Red will continue to support Cyberpunk 2077, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, and The Witcher: Monster Slayer, while also conducting research for unannounced projects.

The next-generation upgrade for The Witcher 3 was scheduled to release in Q2 2022, but it was recently delayed due to CD Projekt Red shifting the development to its in-house team. CD Projekt Red did not give any new release window for the next-generation version of The Witcher 3 as the team is currently evaluating the state of the project.

The tweets’ replies are filled with fans asking CD Projekt Red to take its time. Expectedly, no one wants to experience a situation similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, and many players seem content with waiting for the expansion’s release. On the other hand, some players are posting comments on how often CD Projekt Red delays games, and some others do not seem as hopeful about the final product’s quality. It'll be interesting to see how Cyberpunk 2077's expansion turns out when it releases next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
