Black Desert Online is an open-world, sandbox MMORPG. It was released by the Pearl Abyss development team in 2015. The game quickly gained popularity in Korea, and by mid-2015 a CBT was launched. The official server was launched on February 10, 2016.
During beta testing, the game received controversial ratings from gamers and reviewers. New update
The latest Black Desert Online content update brings several new additions. One of the new additions is a brand new class and major content updates coming on April 6th as part of the Eternal Winter expansion. The upgrade was announced during a live broadcast of the CalpheON event last weekend by Pearl Abyss.
A new class – Drakania
The new character class is known as the Drakania. This female class has the power of dragons and fights with a massive two-handed sword. As a descendant of one of the legendary dragons in Black Desert Online, this heroine is in an antagonistic relationship with the Guardian class, which will entail an intriguing story around the ancestral sworn enemies.
Despite the fact that the character animations look slow and the character itself is clumsy, she is quite fast and agile. Brawl has a special bar that, when full, becomes an instant ability with a charge.
Drakania’s abilities have a nice animation of lightning with fire. The Ion Strip can be used to self-heal when health drops below 50% and the character has an active ability to reduce damage by 50% while staying in a place with a support effect. Drakania can make long and fast jumps and surprise attacks. The character is fresh and enjoyable to play.
Mountain of Eternal Winter
Mountain of Eternal Winter, located south of Driegan, is a land covered in constant snow and ice. Climbing its peaks is a treacherous feat, as the snowstorms will only intensify the higher you climb. In such an environment of eternal winter, you need to watch out for Frostbite: a debuff that slowly drains health points if you fail to warm up. It was in this region that people first shared stories and legends about “Labresk”, the golden dragon. Although many of the inhabitants of the mountain live in small camps located in rough terrain, the central village of this region is a place called Ailton.
New plot
The pre-build gave me access to a fully equipped Brawler and a new level 1 character. But I had one goal: to test the experience of new players and see if it is good for both returning and new players.
Spoiler: this is one of the best games for beginners so far, there you gain experience faster and everything is new. But do not forget that the new is a well-forgotten old.
Players start at level 1. In terms of the storyline, the player characters who started here have just rescued Dragan, but have been given amnesia in the process. (By the way, this is the second time the player character has had amnesia.)
But Pearl Abyss found a simple but effective solution: the main storyline has a lot of plot and few monster killings. Seriously, there are only eight or nine combat encounters in the entire quest chain. By the time the players complete the entire quest chain, they will have the necessary knowledge to start playing Black Desert… If you do not pay attention to reading. Players who choose to skip cutscenes will complete the entire quest chain in approximately 8.5 hours. This may be a first for Black Desert Online, but I highly recommend that players don’t miss out on this story. There are well-voiced lines and cut scenes, and the story is funny. I won’t spoil it too much, but you’re spending your time traveling with a talking fox…
The company is trying to bring more than just hardcore PvP and grinders into the game. The studio wants people who want a compelling storyline and fleshed-out world to call them home.
Starting area for a new player
Mountain of Eternal Winter is the first new Black Desert starter zone where players can start playing from level one and experience the lore and world of Eternal Winter in a new, streamlined way. Fully rendered cutscenes and introductory guides welcome any new players who may be feeling overwhelmed when entering a new MMORPG and introduce them to the wonders and adventures the game has to offer.
New Players: Players can choose the Mountain of Eternal Winter as their starting point. Quick shots of the previous storyline will be provided. Existing Players: Players can enter the new region through the Black Spirit questline.
New Player Center
Located south of the Drieghan region, Eilton is located right in the middle of Everwinter, a place where hard-working people live in small camps built on steep mountain slopes. The village is quite small, but the sheer amount of hidden knowledge it holds makes for more secrets than any other region in Black Desert Online. In Ailton, players will meet curious NPCs and learn about the Mountain of Eternal Winter and its forgotten history.
As promised, players have been waiting for the new Mountain of Eternal Winter region. Pearl Abyss has released the Eternal Winter soundtrack on their YouTube channel, where players can also preview what’s new and immerse themselves in the new region before they get access to the content on April 6th.
