ArenaNet Announces A Fourth Guild Wars 2 Expansion

ArenaNet Announces A Fourth Guild Wars 2 Expansion - Jormag stars out of the fog at a player

Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet has just published a roadmap for its MMORPG and confirmed an expansion is coming.

Less than a month after launching the absolutely massive End of Dragons expansion pack, ArenaNet has revealed that Guild Wars 2 will get a fourth expansion. That’s not all either. The Bellevue developer just published a blog post titled ‘ArenaNet Studio Update: The Future of Guild Wars 2‘ over on the official Guild Wars 2 website that sets a roadmap in motion for the future of this long standing franchise.

Welcome to Cantha

While the post talks in surprising detail about the studio’s recent restructuring and how the hands that make Guild Wars 2 come to life will work, Tyrians will also find a cache of content coming. More immediate concerns mean that players who picked up End of Dragons will find the title receiving a bit of general polish, four Strike Mission Challenge Modes, the first new variant for the generation 3 legendary weapons, as well as a new story chapter and map for Cantha.

Spring 2022 Roadmap

There’s still more. The upcoming Canthan add ons slot kicks off the Spring 2022 plans, but Living World Season 1: Episode 1 and Living World Season 1: Episode 2 follow up. The conclusion of this missing chapter in the living world storybook will hopefully allow new arrivals to play through and eventually understand exactly why a certain big callback was so important in the new expansion. Alongside the aforementioned features, ArenaNet confirmed Super Adventure Box is coming, and some serious changes to the gameplay systems. You’ll find firm dates for all of these below.

  • March 15—End of Dragons Polish Build
  • 29 March—Super Adventure Festival, End of Dragons Polish Build
  • 19 April—Living World Season 1 Episode 1, Aetherblade Hideout Challenge Mode
  • 10 May—Xunlai Jade Junkyard Challenge Mode
  • 24 May—Living World Season 1 Episode 2, Kaineng Overlook Challenge Mode, New Legendary Weapon Variant
  • 7 June—Dragon Bash Festival, Harvest Temple Challenge Mode
  • 28 June—Balance Update, New Legendary Weapon Variant

The blog signs off with the headline, that we’re going to see a fourth Guild Wars 2 expansion some time in the future. Until then, check out our thoughts on why you need to try the End of Dragons expansion, or head over to read the full post on the official Guild Wars 2 website.
