Frvr raises $76m to expand casual games platform

Investment will go towards securing "high quality" titles for its portfolio

Casual games platform Frvr raised $76 million in a funding round led by Hiro Capital.

The investment will go towards securing more "high-quality" titles for its platform, with contributions from Accel and Makers Fund as well.

Frvr was launched in 2017 by former Yahoo director of product and monetisation for games, Chris Benjaminsen, and founder of late developer Cape Copenhagen, Brian Meidell.

The company's catalogue of HTML games can be played from a browser and on mobile. The platform has reached 1.5 billion players since launch, the announcement said.

Back in 2018, Frvr raised $3 million in a seed round led by Accel, Makers Fund and angel investors, with the ambition to enter Asian markets, among others.

Last year, Hiro Capital announced a $6.4 million investment split across developer Twin Suns Corp and Frvr.
