Today is a huge day for fans of party-based RPGs with the launch of Gato Salvaje‘s The Waylanders. The game has been in early access for about 18 months with developers responding to community feedback ahead of today’s launch. It is currently available for $34.99 on PC via Steam and GoG with a 20% discount available in its first week. The game is localized into English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Galician. Building on classic real-time-with-pause fantasy RPGs, The Waylanders adds new Formation abilities to the genre which give special powers based on party makeup. Spear formations do extra damage and can be used to control narrow paths, the wall of shields makes for a powerful counter against ranged enemies, and many more magical transformations can be unlocked including the devastating Earth Elemental and Spirit Tower combinations.
