EA and Lucasfilm games have announced not one, not two, but three new Star Wars games in development at Respawn Entertainment.

Respawn head Vince Zampella will be overseeing all three projects, claims the announcement. They include “the next game in the Star Wars Jedi series” as well as two new teams working on a pair of new games set in the Star Wars universe. While details are light, we do know one will be an FPS, and the other a strategy game.

The FPS will be led by Peter Hirschmann, who previously worked on 2008’s Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. More recently, he also worked on Respawn’s VR effort Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. The strategy game, meanwhile, will be led by Greg Foertsch. who previously worked at Firaxis on the XCOM series. It’s his new studio, Bit Reactor, who’ll be leading development on the untitled Star Wars strategy game, with Respawn providing production assistance.

Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Walt Disney Games provides a quote. “Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games. Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”

There’s no word on release dates or platforms for any of these games yet, but Star Wars fans already have a lot to look forward to. There’s Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga this April and Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars project on the way to name but two. Then there’s also Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream in the future.
