Rare has promised fans of its pirate game Sea of Thieves that 2022 will be the game’s biggest yet, and will be holding a Preview Event this Thursday.

The broadcast on the Sea of Thieves YouTube channel promises a look at the game’s next season and beyond. Proceedings will kick off at 6pm UK time, and a trailer gives us a brief glimpse at what’s to come. While the look is only fleeting, it seems new locations are on the horizon as we get a shot of a new fort-looking structure. There’s also a short appearance by The Pirate Lord, potentially indicating a new adventure for Pirate Legends.

2021 was already a pretty good year for Sea of Thieves players. This past summer, the game got a brand new free expansion that welcomed the world of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean into the game. That’s been on top of the nautical sandbox’s regular seasonal updates, which have included custom quests, fireworks and Siren Shrines.

We’ll find out what booty Rare has in store for Sea of Thieves in 2022 at 6pm UK time, Thursday, January 27 on the game’s official YouTube channel. Sea of Thieves is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
