It is no secret that Call of Duty: Warzone is not in the best state at the moment. Despite Ricochet anti-cheat promising to stop hackers, deadly flying vehicles have made their way into Caldera. Numerous bugs have made regular gameplay hard even when cheaters aren’t encountered, while a few weapons have proven to be particularly overpowered in Call of Duty: Warzone’s first Season of Vanguard content. On top of all this, the new Caldera map is highly divisive instead of the unanimously popular addition fans were hoping for.

Despite all these issues, Call of Duty: Warzone will likely rebound and have a solid 2022. The game dealt with an extensive amount of hackers and bugs during the days of Verdansk, so it is nothing new for Raven Software. Likewise, broken weapons are a common issue for the battle royale game, so the meta could shift sooner rather than later. With seasonal content that should make Caldera more interesting also coming, fans can be optimistic that the rest of 2022 will be a bit better for Call of Duty: Warzone.

Meta Changes and Bug Fixes For Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific

As is always the case with Call of Duty: Warzone’s integration periods, it did not take long for gamers to recognize which of the Call of Duty: Vanguard weapon additions were the most powerful. While there are several strong options available to players, the Bren LMG and Cooper Carbine have quickly risen to the top of the pick rate charts. Both weapons feature nonexistent recoil when equipped with the right attachments, meaning that they could end up being nerfed in the near future.

With the LMG class always thriving due to its long-range capabilities, and the Assault Rifles being the most balanced options available to Call of Duty: Warzone players, it can be assumed that a new LMG and Assault Rifle will take the top spots once these nerfs eventually happen. The DP27 could end up taking the Bren’s position as a go-to LMG, while the Automaton or BAR could steal the spot of best Assault Rifle. The MP-40 will likely remain viable for SMG users seeking an alternative to an Assault Rifle or LMG. It is also worth noting that the weapon additions coming in Season 2 and beyond will likely be very strong when they are first added to Call of Duty: Warzone, as this has been a consistent pattern with new guns.

Alongside weapon balancing, players can expect bug fixes to remain a priority for some time. Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 was recently delayed due to the issues in the Sledgehammer Games title and Call of Duty: Warzone, so Activision is clearly aware of the problems with the active Call of Duty games. Over the next several patches, texture-related bugs like Call of Duty: Warzone’s N64 glitch and demon textures will likely be addressed. The various problems tied to the Gulag will surely be touched on as well, while issues tied to certain Call of Duty: Vanguard Operators skins should be fixed sooner rather than later.

Seasonal Content From Call of Duty: Vanguard

As is always the case with Call of Duty: Warzone, new content will be added to the game alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Seasons. Season 2 will begin on February 14, and more Seasons will come every few months. As for what these Seasons will bring, players can expect the usual additions. A Battle Pass will come as part of each Season, new weaponry for Call of Duty: Vanguard will be brought to Call of Duty: Warzone, and additional Operators will join the game’s already massive roster.

Throughout the Seasons, Call of Duty: Warzone will likely continue to experiment with limited time modes and events. Both types of content have been hit or miss, with the Numbers event and Payload mode struggling while The Haunting and Iron Trials thrived. Regardless, both the events and game modes could tie into Call of Duty: Warzone’s ongoing narrative, and players can expect to be stopping the mysterious Nazi plot Butcher uncovered in the bunker from Season 1’s intro cinematic.

Much like Verdansk evolved with time, Caldera will likely do the same. This should be great news for players, as many have claimed that the map feels boring - with some even creating their own points of interest for Caldera to remedy this. While it remains to be seen where Raven Software will place new areas on the Pacific island, there is a good chance they will be scattered around the Volcano. Currently, a vast majority of Caldera’s points of interest are placed on the outskirts of the map, so filling out the center of the play space throughout the upcoming Seasons would make sense.

Integration With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2019 Captain Price

Call of Duty 2022 is all but confirmed to be a sequel to 2019’s reboot of the Modern Warfare series, and fans can expect it to integrate with Call of Duty: Warzone just like other recent titles. This integration will likely be teased in one of the last few Seasons of Call of Duty: Vanguard, with an in-game event unlocking the teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. As for what the event could feature, characters from Captain Price’s new version of Task Force 141 might interact with players in some way, much like Frank Woods did during the reveal event for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The integration itself will likely bring the same type of content that has been carried over through other integration periods. This included Operators, weapons, and cosmetics from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A new map is also rumored to be coming at the end of the year, and it will supposedly be comprised of locations from the original Modern Warfare 2. While it remains to be seen if these rumors are accurate, leaks have indicated that Call of Duty 2022 will feature remastered content from the 2009 classic, so it would make sense for Warzone to do the same.

As for when this integration could take place, it will likely follow previous patterns and happen one month after the new Call of Duty game launches. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s leaked launch window suggests the game will be dropping a bit early, making its debut in October. If this is the case, players can expect the next integration to happen during the month of November, beginning alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s first Season. With a nostalgia-filled map apparently in the works, and several Seasons left to improve Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific, 2022 should turn out to be an eventful year for fans of the title.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
