Update: Well, here's a much better source than Warner Bros Brazil: official Harry Potter website Wizarding World has updated with a new post on the year ahead, and it also says Hogwarts Legacy is coming this year. Obviously, this is still subject to change, but it's slightly more positive news for the open world RPG adaptation.
Original Story: A headline that’s already apparated itself onto a number of major websites is Warner Bros Brazil’s confirmation of Hogwarts Legacy for 2022. The South American division is just regurgitating official information, of course, but some believe it could dispel previous rumours regarding the Harry Potter-themed RPG being in trouble.
Earlier this week, Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty reported that the “game isn't coming out this year”. That’d be hugely disappointing, of course, as it was originally due in 2021 before spending the entire year shrouded in its invisibility cloak. Officially, developer Avalanche Software has promised updates imminently.
Ultimately, we’re just going to have to wait for official confirmation. Moriarty’s sources may or may not be sound, but Warner Bros Brazil is just sharing publicly available information, which will remain accurate until a more concrete announcement is made. So, yes, Hogwarts Legacy is currently slated to release in 2022 – until, of course, it isn’t.

It’s either coming or it isn’t. It’s also January. Perhaps it’s a bit early to say whether it’ll be out this year. People like Colin Moriarty just open their fat gobs and let any old hearsay come out. ‘It isn’t coming out this year’ is very very different from ‘I heard it probably won’t come out this year’.

The cynic in me says the game is more or less done, but warner bros are sitting on it in the hope that the discourse around JK Rowling dies down
@FatalBubbles The guy literally tweeted out that The Last Guardian was cancelled. You know, that game which came out. He’s consistently putting out stuff about a new SOCOM and Bloodborne being remastered by Bluepoint which again are outright hearsay. I’m sick of ‘insiders’ who pretend they have knowledge of these things. If they know about it then it’s clearly going to be revealed by Sony in the near future anyway. All it does is either cause disappointment when it doesn’t materialise or ruin the surprise when the State of Play things air.

Looking forward to playing this when it does come out, from what has been shown it looks like it could be something really good.
Unwarranted comments comparing it to equally good franchises aside... I love HP. Grew up with the books as they came out. I always wanted the world to be real, and finally we're someday, some year, getting the closest thing.
Whenever it comes, I'll be ready and waiting. After the Cyberpunk fiasco, I'd rather wait years for it to be fully cooked than have devs rush to put out a half-baked disappointment.
P.S. Seriously guys, why compare it to other fantasy series? Everyone grew up with a fantasy series, we get it!

For now the possibility of a delay to 2023 remains very high.
I'm happy for games to come out when they are ready. I don't get why people are so upset when a game is delayed. Unless you have an investment, games are to be played. I look forward to new games more than I should but in the same light there is always far more than I could ever play available at any one time. Same folks will also be the first to complain about bugs and poor performance. I know I was guilty of both when it came to Cyberpunk so I not innocent of it myself.

I'm a lord of the rings guy but even though i can't get into the whole potter world the wife assures me they are good (she cant stand the lord of the rings) so i'm looking forwards to something a bit different to play..i'll be happy for the game to take as long as it needs to make sure its as complete and bug free as possible upon launch..people moan when it takes too long and complain when its rushed out and isnt as good as promised..
I don't care when it's coming, it just needs to be good. If it needs another two years in the oven, I hope they do what they need to do.
@Octane Agreed same here, much as I LOVE the HP franchise to death, I'd rather they take the extra time to make this a worthy game.

@KidBoruto In the books Hogwarts sounds like a great playground with many secrets and hidden areas. None of the previous games have really captured that feeling IMO.
